The Author
Victor SIMPSON – A New Yorker of Jewish origins, a long-time journalist, former Director of the Associated Press Italy and a member of the Board of Directors of the Foreign Press in Italy. Professionally he made his debut in the New Jersey AP in the 60s, covering the revolt that in '67 caused 32 deaths among blacks and police; the following year he moved to New York and in '72 he fulfilled his dream: foreign correspondent in Rome. For half a century he has followed presidents and especially popes for whom he is recognized as an expert on the Vatican.
